The Sydney Festival is a major art festival in the city not to be missed and will be held from the 5th to the 27th of January this year. For three weeks the festival offers a program of more than 330 performances and 100 events involving 900 artists from 17 countries covering dance, theatre, music, visual arts, cross media and forums.

It starts with Day One - a trilogy of free outdoor spectacles spearheading a weekend full of Sydney Festival openings and premieres, Fun Run in Hyde Park from 9.30am to2.30pm, Humphrey or 'Humps' (AKA Performer Tristan Meecham) will be running 42.2kms on stage joined by an army of dancer for flash mobs, in an ode to the ancient Greek messenger Pheidippides, the performance will include DJs, acrobatics and the dancing styles of the Spandex-clad troupe Haus Da Humps, followed by The Arrival of the giant Rubber Duck in Darling Harbour from 2pm to 4pm, and the Daptone Super Soul Revue which is a free concert in the Domain from 7.30pm to 11pm.
For the duration of the Festival, Darling Harbour will be home to Florentijn Hofman’s giant bobbing artwork Rubber Duck: 101 performers, 21 boat skippers, 5000 duck whistles, 5000 bubble blowers, 3000 little ducks, 8 bathtub boats, 7 miniature tugs, 2 full size tugs, 1 canoe, 4 trampolines, 216 square meters of taekwondo matting, one bathtub, 120 pairs of Pyjamas, 70 bathrobes, 120 pairs of slippers, a floating stage that is 138m wide and a giant rubber duck. Yep, it's big!
Or join the Hot Dub Time Machine on the 12th January in Hyde Park from 5pm, the world's first time-travelling dance party! Travel back in time to 1954 then boogie back to 2013 with a song for each year powered by your dancing, this is the best party of the year!
